For most addresses, no: Canada Post delivers Monday to Friday. Only some eligible addresses in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal can receive parcels on Saturday or Sunday. Canada Post announced weekend delivery in Ottawa from October 2026, then Montréal and Toronto by late November, with other major centres in 2027.
Regular delivery days and hours
According to its support page, Canada Post delivers to residences Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. until as late as 8 p.m. On business routes, delivery is Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Canadian Postal Service Charter provides for delivery five days a week.
Saturday and Sunday parcel delivery
The same page says eligible addresses in select areas of Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal may also receive parcels on Saturday or Sunday. On September 28, 2026, Canada Post announced it is expanding that service on the schedule below.
| Where | What Canada Post says |
|---|---|
| Most Canadian addresses | Delivery Monday to Friday only |
| Ottawa | Weekend delivery operations begin in early October 2026 |
| Montréal and Toronto | Weekend delivery expected by late November 2026 |
| Other major centres | Expansion anticipated in 2027 |
| Holidays | No collection or delivery (with provincial exceptions, see below) |
Canada Post does not publish a list of eligible postal codes. The schedule above comes from a news release: check your parcel tracking rather than counting on a Saturday delivery.
How weekends count in delivery times
Canada Post’s delivery standards count business days: Saturday, Sunday and holidays are not business days. A parcel deposited on a weekend, on a holiday or after the drop-off location’s cut-off time is treated as deposited on the next business day.
Example: an Xpresspost parcel dropped off on Saturday starts its delivery standard on Monday, even if the post office was open. Except where the On-time Delivery Guarantee applies, Canada Post’s delivery standards are estimates.
What about holidays?
Canada Post does not collect or deliver on national, provincial and territorial holidays. Exceptions: collection and delivery are regular on provincial Family Day, Louis Riel Day (Manitoba) and Islander Day (Prince Edward Island). The exact dates are in our holiday guide.
What you can do
- The parcel must arrive before the weekend: drop it off early enough in the week for the service’s delivery standard to end on a Friday.
- You ship on Friday afternoon: check the drop-off location’s cut-off time; after it, the parcel leaves on Monday.
- The recipient is in Ottawa, Montréal or Toronto: weekend delivery is possible for some addresses, but only tracking confirms it.
- The parcel must arrive on a Saturday elsewhere in Canada: compare with another carrier that publishes a Saturday service for that destination.
