FedEx delivers on Saturday in Canada, but not everywhere and not with every service. Priority Overnight has a Saturday delivery option in most major cities, and FedEx Ground delivers to residences on Saturday in major urban centres of six provinces. FedEx does not advertise Sunday delivery in Canada.
Which FedEx services deliver on Saturday?
| Service | Saturday | Sunday |
|---|---|---|
| FedEx Priority Overnight | Saturday delivery option, in most major Canadian cities | Not advertised in Canada |
| FedEx Standard Overnight | Listed on the Saturday service page, but a FedEx Canada service guide amendment says it is not available on Saturday: confirm when you ship | Not advertised in Canada |
| FedEx Ground (residences) | Service day in major urban centres of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan | Not advertised in Canada |
| FedEx Ground (businesses) | Monday to Friday service | Not advertised in Canada |
For Priority Overnight, Saturday is an option you select when you create the shipment, not the default: FedEx Canada's Overnight page lists Monday to Friday service, with Saturday service also available. FedEx Canada's FAQ adds that some locations offer Saturday service for a special handling fee.
FedEx Ground on Saturday: residences in major cities
FedEx states that Saturday is a service day for FedEx Ground deliveries to residences in major urban centres of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan. This Saturday residential Ground delivery is limited to those cities. According to the Saturday service page, a residential Ground package shipped on Thursday or Friday on a one- or two-day transit can therefore be delivered on Saturday, at no extra cost.
The Atlantic provinces and the territories are not on that list, even though FedEx Ground serves all of Canada. A business address, or a residence outside those major centres, receives its Ground parcel Monday to Friday.
Does FedEx deliver on Sunday in Canada?
We found no Sunday delivery service on FedEx's Canadian site. FedEx Canada's FAQ says Saturday and Sunday are not regular shipping days. The Sunday options you see online, such as FedEx Home Delivery, are described on FedEx's US site and apply to the United States.
A parcel that reaches a depot on Friday evening without a Saturday option will normally be delivered on Monday, or the next business day if Monday is a holiday.
How to get a Saturday delivery
- Urgent parcel for Saturday: choose Priority Overnight and select the Saturday delivery option when you create the shipment, then check it is offered for the postal code.
- Non-urgent residential parcel in a major city of the six provinces: FedEx Ground can deliver on Saturday with no option to add.
- Business recipient closed on Saturday: a parcel shipped Friday will arrive Monday; there is no point paying for a Saturday option.
- Address in the Atlantic provinces or the territories: do not count on a Saturday Ground delivery.
