Yes, Purolator will collect parcels from your door. You book a one-time pickup online, in Purolator's shipping tools or by phone, once the labels are printed and attached. Businesses that ship every day can ask for a regular scheduled pickup. A request made after the local cut-off moves to the next business day, and a pickup fee may apply depending on your account: confirm the cut-off and the price when you book.
How to book a Purolator pickup
A pickup is booked after the shipment is created, never before: the driver collects parcels that are already labelled, they do not prepare them. Purolator offers three ways to make the request: on its website, in its online shipping tools, or through customer service. The result is the same, a pickup confirmation number to keep until the driver has been.
- Print and attach the label on every parcel before you book.
- Have the pickup address, the number of parcels and the approximate total weight ready.
- Give the time the parcels will be ready and the time your premises close.
- Say where the driver should go: front desk, loading dock, back door.
- Keep the confirmation number: it is what you quote if the pickup is missed.
One-time pickup or regular pickup
An on-demand, one-time pickup suits a business that ships a few times a week or less: you book each time a shipment is ready. A regular pickup is a planned stop at a set time, often every business day, designed for shippers with steady volume. It saves booking over and over, but it is usually arranged with the carrier and can depend on your volume.
| Criterion | One-time pickup | Regular pickup |
|---|---|---|
| Who it suits | Occasional shipments | Daily or near-daily shipments |
| Booking | Every shipment | Once, then a planned stop |
| Fees | May apply per pickup | Depends on your agreement |
| Flexibility | Full, day by day | Fixed stop, even with no parcels |
Cut-off times, weekends and fees
Every area has a cut-off time for same-day pickup requests. A request made after it rolls to the next business day, and the driver also has to be able to arrive before your premises close: leave a wide enough window. Pickups run on business days. On weekends service is limited or unavailable depending on the area, and statutory holidays shift the schedule.
On price, an on-demand pickup can carry a fee, which varies with your account and the service you choose. Some business accounts see it reduced or included. The only reliable figure is the one shown at booking for your address.
Cut-off times, pickup fees and weekend availability change by area and by account. Nothing in this guide is a carrier commitment: confirm the cut-off and the price when you book, and the rate for the shipment itself at the quote step.
Pickups at the other carriers
Purolator is not the only carrier that will come to you. Canada Post, UPS and FedEx also offer on-demand pickups, each with its own cut-off times and its own fee rules. If pickup is what matters most to you, it belongs in the comparison alongside price and delivery date.
| Carrier | Book online | Regular pickup | Pickup fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Purolator | Yes | Yes, by agreement | Depends on account: confirm |
| Canada Post | Yes | Yes, by agreement | Depends on account: confirm |
| UPS | Yes | Yes, by agreement | Depends on account: confirm |
| FedEx | Yes | Yes, by agreement | Depends on account: confirm |
If no pickup fits, drop-off is the fallback: shipping centres, authorized agents and drop boxes, each with its own last collection time.
Compare before you book
A pickup is convenient, but it does not make a carrier cheaper. On the same parcel, the price gap between carriers often exceeds the cost of a pickup, and the winner changes with the postal code, the weight and the dimensions.
MesColis is not a carrier. We show the carriers that serve your lane side by side, each with its price and estimated date. For eligible shipments you can then request a pickup from your dashboard after buying the label, or choose drop-off.
With a free MesColis account, no contract and no minimum volume, you compare the carriers that serve your lane for the same parcel, then choose pickup or drop-off.
