UniUni is a last-mile carrier built for e-commerce: it advertises delivery from next day up to 7 days and says it covers 80% of Canada, with no PO boxes. Canada Post delivers to every Canadian address, publishes delivery standards by service and guarantees Priority, Xpresspost and Expedited Parcel. Compare the price on the same parcel.
Two different networks
UniUni describes itself as a last-mile delivery service: it takes parcels from online merchants and delivers them to the recipient's door. Canada Post is the Crown corporation responsible for postal service, with a range of parcel services (Priority, Xpresspost, Expedited Parcel, Regular Parcel) and the obligation to deliver to every address in the country.
The most practical difference is the address. UniUni states in its FAQ that it cannot deliver to post offices or PO boxes, and its documentation notes that a PO box may fail address validation. Canada Post also delivers to PO boxes and community mailboxes.
UniUni vs Canada Post: what each one publishes
| UniUni | Canada Post | |
|---|---|---|
| Network type | Last-mile delivery for e-commerce | National postal service (Crown corporation) |
| Published transit | Next day up to 7 days; reliable date only once UniUni has the parcel | Standards by service, in business days (e.g. major urban centres, national: Priority next day, Xpresspost 2 days, Expedited Parcel 2 to 8, Regular Parcel 4 to 10) |
| Coverage | 80% of Canada, according to UniUni | Every Canadian address, five days a week (less often in some remote areas) |
| PO boxes | No (nor post offices) | Yes |
| Guarantee | No delivery guarantee published on the pages checked | On-time Delivery Guarantee on Priority, Xpresspost and Expedited Parcel; none on Regular Parcel |
| Weekends | No delivery days stated on its current service pages | Announced in select areas of Ottawa, Montréal and Toronto (news release, September 28, 2026) |
Canada Post's standards count business days from the business day after deposit; they are estimates except where the guarantee applies. On the UniUni side, parcels are dropped off at a UniUni Store or a UniUni Point; for Next Day Delivery the cut-off is noon, judged on the scan time.
Price is compared parcel by parcel
Neither UniUni nor Canada Post publishes a rate that names a winner for every shipment. The total depends on both postal codes, actual or dimensional weight, packed size, the service and your account terms. For a parcel to a PO box, the question does not arise: only Canada Post can deliver it.
For a street address, get both prices for the same packed parcel, then look at the total, the estimated date and the exact service offered together.
How to choose for your parcel
- PO box, post office or community mailbox: Canada Post, since UniUni does not deliver to those addresses.
- Need a delivery-time guarantee: Canada Post Priority, Xpresspost or Expedited Parcel; UniUni does not publish one.
- Rural or remote address: check that UniUni serves the address before choosing, since by its own figure its network covers 80% of Canada.
- Recipient often away: UniUni requires no signature and photographs the delivery location.
- E-commerce parcel to a street address: compare the total and the estimated date with both.
